5 August Festivals You Don’t Want To Miss!
If you ask any Niagara local what they look forward to when August arrives, I have no doubt that you will hear peaches. Our region celebrates the mighty peach all month long but there are other great festivals happening as well. Here are our top 5 picks for festivals in August to round out your summer plans.
The 39th Annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival takes place in Port Colborne and has something for the whole family. Enjoy craft shows, car shows, kite festival, midway, live music, fireworks & more. The festival kicks off with a Farmer’s Market from 6am to noon on Friday and features live concerts everyday.
Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake will be celebrating the harvest of our most juiciest fruit! Queen Street will be closed to traffic and become a pedestrian friendly marketplace for everything peach-related! Live music starts at 10am & you can enjoy a sidewalk sale, local growers selling peaches along with peach treats from local restaurants. The festival runs from 10am to 5pm and continues the next day at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
If you are looking for a night out with that special someone or a bunch of friends, you can wine and dine on Queen Street under the stars. The Shades of Summer event takes place the evening of August 13th.
The second annual wing fest will be taking place at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie. This two day event will be the ultimate showdown for the best wings in the city. Come on out and support local! This event runs from 11am to 11pm on Aug 12 and 11am to 6pm on Aug 13.
If you like lobster, this is the one festival you don’t want to miss! No tickets or reservations required – just show up at Caroline Cellars Family Estate Winery and order off the à la carte menu. Food is served from 1pm to 8pm with live music until 11pm.
Mechanical bull rides, a pig roast, food truck fare accompanied by your fave wine! Peller Estates Winery will be hosting this party in the vineyard where you can put on your stetson and dust off your cowboy boots. Canadian country artists Buck Twenty, Runaway Angel and Emerson Drive will keep you entertained all night long. Tickets are available online or you can call 1-888-673-5537 ext. 2.
