Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival
Aug 3-6, 2018 Port Colborne celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, presented by Vale, offering activities and attractions that will enliven the senses.
Vessels gather along the canal wall for the four-day celebration of history and heritage. Explore the decks of the US Brig Niagara & E.M Cotter Fire Boat with theFriends of the Edward M Cotter, or enjoy a cruise on Lake Erie aboard the Tall Ship Empire Sandy.
The Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival encompasses the entire community, with activities at a dozen different venues: H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park hosts Ontario’s Largest outdoor Classic Car Show and Kite Show. The Seaway Park Kids Zone has games, entertainment and kid’s activities throughout the weekend. At the Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum the history of the Canal is on display, and heritage artisans can be seen working their trade.
Visit the Roselawn Centre Saturday afternoon for live entertainment on the lawn. Festival guests can ride the free shuttle to the Vale Health & Wellness Centre where thePort Colborne Optimist Club indoor Craft Show is held. Festival food and shopping kiosks fill historic West Street, and the Scotiabank Patio on West offers entertainment day * night. The Market Square concert venue features top notch entertainment nightly. The Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival will once again feature celebratory fireworks Sunday night, which will light the night sky.
